We're just back home, after a very long day in the air. Blackwater Castle and its proprietors, Patrick and Sheila, were amazing. Last night we drove north from Castletownroche, and took in a traditional music pub crawl in Kilkenny before finding a hotel in Dublin (allowing us to sleep in, not drive from 5 or 6AM). The first flight home started something like 18 hours ago.

The trip was amazing, our people are amazing too. Apparently my motorcycle and our strawberries did not survive our absence. More on all that later. I'm off to bed.

Thanks! I'll probably be asleep at my desk by noon, but at the moment it looks like I even escaped jet lag :)

My roommate slid on gravel Saturday coming down from Mt. Hamilton Observatory, and dropped the bike. I was too tired to look at it last night, but I went home at lunch and took a look. His foot broke most of the fall (he's on -really- good painkillers right now), and the damage is superficial- shattered windscreen, dented and scraped tank, broken headlight. It'll be back to normal once he heals enough to take it to the shop :)

Look forward to hearing more about the trip! If extra light is helpful for fighting jet lag, I've got plenty up here to send ya.

I was thinking of you when it was 11:30pm and there was still deep blue twilight in the sky. Northern climes are weird :)

yikes! i can report that *both* my basil and my cat survived, so i'm well pleased and then some. don't know yet about my students, though, as norton seems to have self-destructed in my absence, and i'm afraid to open all of the things they've emailed for me to grade without wearing a web-condom... ;)
